Case study
A mobile app through which a traveller gets connected in a foreign country: picks a plan, pays, installs the eSIM profile and tops up afterwards. A hundred thousand dollars of top-ups passes through the app every day.
The problem
eSIM has an awkward property: you need connectivity exactly when you do not have it yet. Someone walks off a plane in a country where their SIM is silent, and that is the very moment they have to open an app, pick a plan, pay and install a profile. Everything in that chain that needs a solid connection needs it at the worst possible moment.
The second property is money. This is not a shop window or a catalogue: payments run through the app, and they run constantly. A failure at the payment step here is not a minor annoyance but a person with no connectivity in an unfamiliar city.
What we did
An app for both platforms from a single Flutter codebase: choosing and buying a plan, installing the eSIM profile, topping up the balance and managing connections.
